His specialty certification is internal medicine, cardiology and anesthesiology.

Igor completed his secondary school education at II. Gimnazija Maribor in 1993. In 2000 he graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ljubljana. After the graduation, he completed voluntary internship at the Veterinary Surgery and Small Animal Clinic (Department of Internal Medicine) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Ljubljana. In 2002 Igor passed a state examination for doctors of veterinary medicine and acquired the title of Assistant for the courses ‘Diseases and Health Care of Carnivores’ and ‘Inpatient Care Unit’ at the Faculty. In 2003 he received the license to practice veterinary medicine.

Igor continuously upgrades his knowledge of advanced diagnostic veterinary sonography at the Royal Veterinary College of the University of London (Basic and Advanced Echocardiography), at the Eickemeyer Veterinary Centre and at various events in Slovenia. He regularly attends WSAVA (World Small Animal Veterinary Association) congresses, annual symposiums of the Slovenian Small Animal Veterinary Association and workshops of the Alpe-Adria Cytology Symposium.
